Release Notes - Sumac October 30, 2026

This release makes Sumac Desktop's built-in reports easier to find and run, adds clearer review history to Transaction Logs, and improves reliability during financial and case management actions.

Find the reports you need, right from your dashboard

Sumac has a wide range of built-in reports, but finding the right one hasn't always been easy. Reports lived in lists and menus throughout the database, so you needed to know where to look before you could get started.

For many teams, that could mean leaving Contacts, where much of your daily work happens, and opening other lists to try and find a report. Useful reports were easy to miss, and it wasn't always clear whether a report was unavailable or simply located somewhere else.

The new Reports area brings those reports together in a searchable catalogue, accessible from your dashboard so you can spend less time hunting through menus and more time getting the information you need.

Explore what's available

Click Reports in the dashboard side panel to browse reports across the areas you have access to.

  • Search by report name to find a particular report.

  • Browse by area, such as Case Management, Donations, or Memberships, to explore the reports available for that part of your work.

  • Read report descriptions directly in the catalogue to understand what each report does before running it.

  • Launch reports from the catalogue, with prompts for dates and other criteria where needed.

If you've ever wondered whether Sumac already has a report for something, this is a useful place to start.

Make your regular reporting easier

Your Starred, Recently used and Saved by me reports are available in the same area, making it easier to return to the reports you rely on.

Star reports you expect to use again, whether that's a weekly case management report or a monthly donation summary. Recently used reports help you return to reports you've run in the past 14 days, while Saved by me gives you access to reports you've already saved.

Get the most out of the new Reports area

  • Start with All areas. Explore reports beyond the sections of Sumac you use every day. You may find a useful report you didn't know was there.

  • Narrow your search by area. Choose Case Management, for example, to browse reports grouped under Case Plans, Case Notes, and other available record types.

  • Check the description. Similar report names can answer different questions. The description helps you choose before you run one.

  • Check which records you're including. When prompted, choose the records, dates and applicable columns you need. Reports launched here don't automatically use a list you were viewing elsewhere in Sumac.

Ready to explore? Open Reports from your dashboard and find a report to make part of your routine!

Info
The catalogue reflects your existing access permissions. You'll see reports for the areas you have permission to view.
Note: All reports remain available in their previous location within each list window as well, so wherever you are, you can find the reports you need!

See who reviewed a record and when

In Sumac's dashboard, Program Activity helps managers keep up with client and team activity, with the ability to mark items as reviewed, and undo a review when needed.

Those review actions are now easier to trace in Transaction Logs. Authorized users can see who completed or undid a review and when, and filter for those actions to find the history they need.

This makes it easier to check review activity and answer questions about who reviewed a record.

More reliable financial and case management actions

This release fixed an issue that could cause Sumac to appear frozen during certain financial and case management actions when it could not access the audit log.

Sumac can now safely store the transaction history for retry, allowing you to continue working while it completes the audit log entry.
