Release Notes - Sumac 4.7.27 - June 2026

This release brings two meaningful improvements to how Case Management teams can send and communicate with clients through online forms, a more polished and consistent look throughout the application, and a new Mac installer that makes installation and removal significantly easier.

📝 Online Forms

📨 Send Multiple Forms to a Client at Once

When processing a client intake or doing a mid-case check-in, it’s common to need to send several forms at once. Previously, this meant going through the send flow one form at a time — repetitive, tedious, and easy to miss something.

Now, you can select a client, choose all the forms you need to send, and Sumac handles the rest. Each form arrives as its own email to the client, so their experience stays exactly the same — you just spend a fraction of the time getting them out the door.

This feature is available in both Sumac Desktop and Sumac Case Portal.

In Sumac Desktop, go to the client’s contact record. You can send forms from the Forms & Attachments tab, or right from the Add to Contact button. Select the forms you want to send to the client, add your personal note, and hit “Send”!

In Case Portal, go to the client’s contact record. From the Attachments tab, use the Form drop-down menu to select which forms you’d like to send. Click “Email Selected Forms,” then add your personal note, and hit “Send”!

IdeaNote: a helpful option in Case Portal is the ability to send a unique message to the client for each form you are sending!

📬 Post-Submission Confirmation Emails for Form Respondents

Until now, when a client submitted a form — whether through your website or a direct link — all they saw was an on-screen confirmation pop-up. No email. No next steps. Nothing to reference later.

That changes with this release. You can now configure your forms to automatically send a personalized confirmation email to the client immediately after they submit. The email can address them by name, reference their form submission, and let them know what to expect next — making your intake process feel more professional and complete.

A default template is included to get you started:

Hi [First Name],

This email confirms that we have received your [Form Name] submission. Thank you for completing this. Our team will review the information you submitted and follow up with you soon regarding next steps. If you have any questions or need to update your information, please reply to this email.

Sincerely,
[Organization Name]

Idea

Note that you can personalize this email content, and even merge in the content from any field from your form!

Your team can also receive an internal notification email when a new submission comes in, with details about the contact and submission date.

Notes

Note: This feature applies to newly created forms. To enable it on an existing form, open the form and add a Post-Submission email step.

🔧 Improvements

✏️ Consistent Text Capitalization Throughout Sumac

We’ve standardized capitalization across menus, buttons, messages, and headers throughout Sumac. Menu items and titles now use Title Case; messages and buttons use Sentence case. These changes make Sumac feel more polished and easier to read.

🍎 New Mac Installer

We’ve released a new installer for Sumac on Mac that addresses several friction points:

  • The installer and launcher now show the correct Sumac by Societ branding

  • The app appears as “Sumac” in the Mac dock and tray — no more “Java”

  • A built-in Uninstall script cleanly removes Sumac from all the places it gets installed, so reinstalls no longer require a call to Support

🛠️ Bug Fixes

Anonymous donations from Web Forms not marking Donor Recognition field When a donor selected “Make this donation anonymous” on a Donation Web Form, Sumac was not consistently populating the Donor Recognition field with “Anonymous” on the resulting donation record. This has been fixed.
