This release includes a collection of usability improvements and workflow enhancements across the Sumac Desktop application and Sumac Case Portal. This release brings helpful new reporting tools for Case Management, and a collection of usability improvements that reduce friction across everyday workflows.
Released April 2, 2026
We’ve introduced helpful new reporting capabilities to make it easier to access, share, and act on your data.
No more saving report column configurations to .txt files on your desktop. Quick Count and Outcome report setups can now be saved directly in Sumac!
You can now save report configurations directly in Sumac:
Give your saved reports a name,
Choose whether to share them with your whole team or keep them private, and
Access them straight from the Reports list without having to run a Quick Count or Outcome report first!
This works across Case Management, Contacts, Donations, and more.
We've added six built-in reports designed to help organizations quickly pull the statistics most commonly required by funders. No setup needed - just select your date range, apply any filters, and run.
Case Plan Reports:
Client Demographics — A summary of intake details like age, ethnicity, and gender, broken down by case plan status
Days in Program — Average and median time clients spend in a program, with a full client-by-client breakdown
New & Returning Clients — Count of first-time versus returning clients within a selected intake date range
Case Note Reports:
Case Notes by Program — Count of case notes and clients served, filtered by program and date range
Time Spent by Program — Total and average session duration broken down by program
Total Clients Served — Count of clients and case notes in a date range, with an optional age grouping breakdown
These reports reduce setup time and give you immediate access to key insights—right out of the box.
Report results now open in a properly sized window (up to 80% of screen height), so you can immediately see your data without having to manually resize the window first. A small change that makes a real difference when running reports regularly.
We’ve introduced a new Job Role field in user profiles to help us understand how different roles use Sumac so we can continue improving the platform.
When you log into Sumac, you will be prompted to select your role at login. You can skip this step, but you'll be reminded each time you log in until a selection is made.
You can now set your Job Role directly in your user profile, choosing from options like Case Worker, Program Manager, Clinical Director, Fundraising, and more.
For new users, this field is required when setting up their user profile.
This helps the Sumac team better understand which roles use which features, so we can focus improvements where they matter most.
The Campaign record screen now uses a modern card-based layout, aligning with the updated donation records for a more consistent user experience across all fundraising areas in Sumac.
Some organizations using Gmail or Office 365 integrations were experiencing silent authentication failures. Outbound email would stop working without any warning.
We’ve fixed this issue, so the token renewal logic has been corrected so this should no longer occur. Email integrations will now remain connected and continue sending as expected.
We’ve resolved an issue where the calendar could appear empty or behave inconsistently on weekends.
Your calendar will now reliably display meetings and reminders every day of the week.
We’ve improved how form responses are displayed to make reviewing submissions faster and easier:
Dropdown selections now show the actual selected value (e.g. “Married”) instead of an internal ID
This improvement also applies to PDF exports of submitted forms
These updates make it much easier for Intake Coordinators and Case Workers to quickly understand client responses.
Emails requesting clients to complete forms will now include their first name in the greeting (e.g. “Dear John”).
If a first name isn’t available, we’ll use the client’s last name, helping maintain a professional and personalized touch.
We’ve resolved several issues affecting Safari users:
Time entry fields for Case Notes and Meetings now work correctly
File downloads (including uploads and exports) now download properly instead of opening in a new tab
Safari users should now have a smooth, reliable experience across Case Portal.
As always, we appreciate your feedback - it directly shapes our releases. If you have questions or need help exploring these updates, please reach out to our support team.
