My search options have disappeared

Sumac has powerful searching capabilities so you can find  anything in your database; contacts, donation information, client and volunteer data, memberships, tickets, everything!

With the new simple search, you are able to search the records with the most common search type used in that area. For example, in Contacts, the most common search type would be Contact Name. (see screenshot below):

Basic Search on Contact Name lets you enter a first name, last name, or even just a part of a name and click search. Sumac will find you all the contacts who match what you've entered.
For e.g., if you searched for "Mac" only, Sumac would find you anyone in the database who has a last name like Macintosh, Macdonald, Macavoy, etc., it would also find people with first names like Mac, Mackenzie, etc., and it would include other options like "Church of Immaculate Heart"

However, if you would like to search with a different criterion, click "Advanced" to expand the search type options. From the drop-down menu, you can select the criterion you would like to conduct your search with.

Searches can be composed of a single criterion or multiple criteria.

To conduct a multiple criteria search, after selecting the first criterion from the search type drop-down menu, click the "+" then select the next criterion .

You also have the option to change the connectors, i.e. "and", "or" or "and not."  Working with connectors allows you to search for donors that live in Canada AND donated $x amount. Or search for donors that live in Chicago OR New York. As a final example, using AND NOT you could search for donors that live in Canada and has not donated within certain date range.
