How to Make a Copy of a Tax Receipt

When donors request a replacement receipt, if you do not have paper copies you can photocopy, or PDF copies you can reprint, then you can regenerate the receipt through Sumac.

If you need to correct a receipt that was issued in error, the follow these instructions instead
Regenerate a receipt
In your Sumac console, expand Fundraising and select Donations. Search to find the donation for which you need to re-generate the tax receipt and click on it to highlight it. Then expand the Mailing menu and click Mail Merge.

In the window that opens, under Donations list, select "Selected" to limit the mail merge to the specific donation and under Choose Template select the receipt template and click OK to select the template and OK again.


Sumac asks you to choose the Merge Output to specify where you want to save this file. 

Once Sumac runs the mail merge, it asks if you want to save a communication record in the database. This is not necessary unless your organization's policies require it.

Sumac also asks if you want to record that the donation has been acknowledged. Again, this is not necessary unless your policies require it.

You can now send the receipt to the donor.
