How does Automatic Pledge Processing work?

How does Automatic Pledge Processing work?

If you are using the Automatic Pledge Processing feature in your database, here's how it works:

Once you turn on the Automatic Pledge Processing feature for your database, you tell Sumac what time of day you want to run the pledge processing.

When you log into Sumac, Sumac looks to see if there are any pledges ready to process, and confirms if it is the right time of day to process pledges. Sumac also double-checks if any pledges have already been processed that day to make sure it does not accidentally process those pledges twice.

If there are pledges ready to process, Sumac will proceed with processing these for you automatically. All you have to do is log in!

Even if you are using the Automatic Pledge Processing feature, it is important that you continue to log into your Sumac database regularly.

When you log into Sumac, if the Automatic Pledge Processing hasn’t been processed for 15 days or more, Sumac disables the Auto-Pledge feature. It also sends a notification email to the email address defined in your database Preferences for Automatic Pledge Processing to alert you of this change.

This disable feature is in place to ensure that if your database hasn't been used frequently, that Sumac does not process payments for automatic pledges incorrectly (e.g. in cases where a donor has requested a change to their pledge, but the database hasn't yet been updated to reflect this).
